Illustration Friday - Paisley

When I first read the topic "Paisley" I had no idea what to do with it. I decided to rebel from the whole idea of Illustration and do something Non Objective, a piece in my Subtext series. This a series where I write stream of conscience with a black marker and use the angles and curves to form the composition. I was inspired by some drawings I did in my sketchbook and decided to make them paints. There are only 2 pieces in this "series" because they take a lot of time and effort and I have to decide if they are good enough to take so much time.

With this one I didn't want to over work it, I wanted to keep it simple and fresh. To date this is the one that closest resembles the sketchbook images that inspired it.

Now, due to my not wanting to overwork it, I'm not 100% sure it is finished.

This piece was done this week and fits with the topic.

Illustration Friday - subterranean

This is my first attempt to join the ranks of Illustration Friday. I confess it is now 12:36am Friday, and I just finish. I didn't realize I needed to post it so quickly.

I also thought that the topic was simply, "subterranean". I didn't notice the quote below.

I started my extensive brainstorming by looking up "subterranean" in the dictionary. The definition I read was,

"Lying beyond what is openly revealed or avowed (especially being kept in the background or deliberately concealed"
